Benji came to me 3 years ago, when his family contacted a rescue group to rehome him. I had planned on fostering a dog, because I had recently lost 2 dogs to cancer the year before and wasn’t ready to get another dog yet. Or so I thought. Benji was the embodiment of love and joy, and I immediately fell in love and decided to adopt him after 1 week. He accompanied my boyfriend and I on many adventures in our 3 years together – many hikes and road tripes across the country. He absolutely loved to swim, and usually refused to get out of the water if given the chance. He enriched our lives with his loving, gentle nature and playful spirit. His light burned so bright. Our time together was cut much too short by cancer. I hope that he’s swimming freely, and chasing rabbits to his heart’s content on the other side.
